Why Buy a Kindle? Top 5 Reasons to Own a Kindle

Waiting for a great reason to buy a Kindle? Here are five perfect reasons to stop waiting!

1) You can purchase books at home!
There’s no need to go to the bookstore for new reading material. Simply log on to the internet and purchase a book from Amazon.com. Most books are available to preview before you purchase. You are able to virtually “flip the cover” in order to determine whether you will enjoy the book or not. You can read those same books at home, on the bus, in the car, and even on the beach! There are over seven thousand New York Times bestsellers that are available through Kindle’s wireless download service, with the potential for more every day. That’s more than many bookstores!

2) Books for your Kindle are cheaper!
Hardback books are being issued at higher and higher prices with many hardbacks costing as much as twenty-five dollars or more. Paperbacks are cheaper, but are issued later than hardback novels. Many people may wait for the paperback edition, but there’s no more waiting with a Kindle! You can purchase a novel immediately for a price that is lower than the cost of a paperback. Approximately sixty-five percent of e-books are less than $9.99.

3) A Kindle is more portable than traditional books!
The Kindle is smaller, thinner, and more portable than both a hardback book and a paperback novel. It weighs in at 8.5 ounces, and can hold up to 3,500 books. The Kindle’s battery life is amazing, lasting a minimum of seven days, and a maximum of one month depending on your Kindle model and your use of wi-fi.

4) You can change the text size when reading your Kindle!
If you have difficulty seeing, you can change the text size easily on your Kindle. There are fewer books that are printed in large print, but that problem is put to rest with a Kindle. Simply use your user settings in order to increase the size of the text to a point where you are comfortable reading.

5) A Kindle accommodates individuals with disabilities!
If you have a learning disability of any sort, a Kindle is the perfect device! For words that you don’t know, there is a dictionary function. The Kindle is also able to read English language content to you. It is perfect for those that have visual impairments and non-readers.

Smartphones or Cell Phones – Which To Buy?

There used to be a great divide between a smart phone and a cell phone. Now, with the continuing improvement of cell phones, there is a thin difference between them. Usually a smartphone is a gadget that is handled from a centralized service such as a blackberry.

Hottest Gadgets for 2010, 4G Cell Phones, Hydrogen Powered Cell Phones

Here is the THE list of the hottest electronics for 2010.

1- XBox – Enough said. The hottest video game console, except for the Nintendo Wii? Write your comments on which video game system is the best.
2- Ford’s MyKey – Ford will have a developed a special chip so drivers will not be able to drive more than 80 miles an hour. Will this help mitigate accidents on highways?
3- Dual Touch Screen Laptop – V12 Designers will now offer dual touch screens, not just one screen.
4- 4G Phones – This is the latest and greatest cell phones. Speed, speed, speed, here it comes to the cell phone world. A 4G network can allow people to download whole movies within a few minutes. Hold on to your seatbelt, cell phones will be driving in the high speed lane in 2010. Imagine being able to streamline videos, transfer huge files, watch movies.
Verizon Wireless today announced that the company plans to launch a 4G network in 2010, for better speed and a superior technology platform. Currently, Verizon covers over 80 percent of the U.S. population with its high-speed 3G network, according to the company.
If you’re wondering what fourth-generation wireless deployments and services mean to you, you’re not alone.

There’s plenty of talk about 4G, particularly since Sprint Nextel last year announced its $3 billion plan to build a 4G, mobile WiMAX network.

But it’s not always clear what all the fuss is about. In a nutshell, users can expect wireless services that support data-transmission speeds as high as, and in excess of, 100Mbps, with the promise of QoS and even traffic prioritization, industry experts say. With such features, it becomes possible to imagine a mobile employee using a cell phone to participate in a video conference or tune into high-quality streaming video.

It won’t come cheap for carriers, however. According to the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), carriers in the United States are expected to spend $4.4 billion on WiMAX infrastructure equipment in 2008. Considering that WiMAX is only one potential 4G standard, industry watchers are expecting carriers to drop a lot of dough on 4G gear.

5- Hydrogen Rulz- Hydrogen powered cell phones will be the key,

Best Google Gadgets To Use

Google gadgets are made from users like you and me, not from Google. The calculator, Wikipedia tool, translator, news and blogs are the gadgets they have.
I love the Google calendar is so useful. I also like checking every so often with the Google Weather gadget.
The virtual flower pot and the video games are really cool, they stop me from getting bored when I am on the computer.

LED TV’s

One of the newest technologies with TV’s is LED. These TV’s are thinner.
LG’s new TV, the SL9000, looks impressive. At 2.9cm thin, the set is available in 42in and 47in models, and has a pretty impressive picture. It also comes with some handy extras. Bluetooth allows you to watch content from devices such as your mobile phone without the need for cables, and the included USB port means you can playback content stored on a USB stick or external hard drive.

Samsung has some interesting information about LED TV’s. You can visit their site at http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/tv-video/televisions/led-tv/index.idx?pagetype=subtype
When a product has become commoditized and its price is regularly dropping and its profit margins are getting ever-thinner, how can a company boost its sales and raise its prices?
That is what Samsung has done.

Popularity for Smaller Gadgets Helps Electric Cars

To commercialize electric vehicles with a range of at least 100-200 miles, “A really dramatic change and a series of home runs” will be needed in battery technology, said Miller in his presentation. Put another way the industry needs innovation that can take a significant bite out of the sticker price of batteries for plug-in vehicles — a major obstacle to mass market adoption because the battery represents the most expensive part of an electric automobile. Miller told me after his presentation that it will be trends in the consumer electronics market that help drive that shift.

Vehicles and consumer electronics connect on a lot more levels than plugging an iPod in to your automobile stereo. According to Ford Research Senior Manager Ted Miller, who spoke today at IBM’s Almaden Institute summit on energy storage in San Jose, Calif., the incredible shrinking gadget represents a boon for the development of affordable electric cars — it all comes down to the battery.

But there’s at least seven thing electric automobile developers can’t glean from the advances in technology for laptops and gadgets. Auto and battery makers lack the tech industry maxim that, (as Om put it back in 2007) has made millionaires out of geeks: Moore’s Law, which says the number of transistors on a chip doubles every one years. “We don’t expect Moore’s Law to apply directly” to battery technology — doubling energy density or halving cost at a rapid, predictable pace, Miller said after his talk.

Because gadgets were seven of the original applications for lithium-ion batteries they are proving to be a fertile ground for innovation. Engineers at electronics giants like Sanyo have been tinkering with lithium ion batteries for years, and making gadgets smaller is a big driver of that. “You’ll always want a smaller iPod,” Miller said. Startups are also doing some “great work” with battery technology, said Miller, who praised the work of stealthy Envia Systems, which developing cathode technology.

Instead of that chip-like doubling, they can expect advancements over the next seven years or so as more resources are dedicated to the tech, and it continues to evolve. “We act like it’s an old technology,” Miller said, when it’s less than 20 years old. That might be ancient by Silicon Valley standards, but it’s a new infant on the block compared with lead-acid batteries, invented more than a century ago. he showed a slide forecasting that we’ll approach the limits of lithium-ion technology, and have a “revolutionary technology change” sometime around 2017. “We’re trying to put lithium-ion in automotives, so stepping beyond that is obviously of interest,” he said — but it’s still in the lab.
