Microsoft acknowledges disc read errors in Halo: ODST

There are few game series as popular on the Xbox 360 as the Halo series. Therefore it stands to reason that the latest in the series — Halo:ODST — would be flying off store shelves in record numbers. And so they are. unfortunately Halo fans who bring home the last chapter in Master Chief’s universe might be in for a rude awakening. There are numerous complaints on official Microsoft forums and elsewhere that a number of copies of Halo: ODST are showing up with read disc errors. To the company’s credit, Microsoft representatives quickly responded to the complaints and acknowledged that yes, the problems people are experiencing are real and don;t seem to be their fault. the exact quote from Microsoft:

“We are aware of a very small number of people who are reporting they can’t play the game,” a Microsoft representative told IGN. “We are looking into it but at this point it doesn’t appear to be a widespread issue.”

If you’ve purchased Halo:ODST and are having problems with the disc and are past the retail return point, you might want to hang on a few days until Microsoft comes up with a fix or a rebate/exchange program.
