According to the Washington Post gave an update on some of the larger players in the electronics industry:

Microsoft has sold over 1.4 million Xbox 360 game consoles.
Nokia has sold over 12 million phones for the quarter, half of what they did the previous year.
Apple sold over 35 million Iphones for the quarter, double year over year. Over 11 million Ipads were sold which were over double what they did a year before.
ATT has sold over 4.3 million Iphones for the quarter.
HTC Corp reported less earnings in the quarter because of troubles competing with the Iphone.

What does all of this mean?
Competition is fierce in the industry, something we already know.
Apple is extremely popular, more than any other brand.

As new tablets and phones come out this year, it will be interesting to see how things fare for the rest of the year. One thing is for sure is Apple is not going away anytime soon. Apple Siri is revolutionizing the industry giving technology a new level of interactivity with the user.

It will only get more exciting to see what comes out next.

Apple is entering the music streaming service with the reported acquisition of Lala. Lala.com is an online music store and CD trading website that allows members to legally create online shareable playlists from their own uploaded music. Based on industry sources, Apple is interested in bringing some of Lala’s engineers on board because of their expertise in streaming technology. The sources also said Apple is impressed by Lala’s technology that scans users’ hard drives and creates duplicate music libraries that can be accessed from Web-enabled devices. Lala, along with other similar online music providers like Ruckus and SpiralFrog, were struggling to turn their experimental business models into profit. Newer schemes were tried like ad-supported music but to no success. These companies either close shop or be acquired by bigger ones in order to survive, like what is reported to happened to Lala.

There has been an age old war and debate between apple and windows. Apple may not be as popular as windows due to the differentiation in the actual compatibility between the computers and the games and software which is being produced in today’s age, but yet most professionals still prefer to use Apple.

Lets look into why.

Apple Computers VS Windows Computers

There is a strong debate between what master company first began the production of the pointer mouse and screen display you see today. Although it is not confirm-able as to whether Apple did start this idea first, it is confirm-able that Apple was producing and exporting the newly designed components exactly one year previous to Windows.

Windows may have better compatibility with playing games and high performance software, but for professional business workers the Apple is the preference. This is because the Apple computer has a more stable secure OS which is not only less likely to crash or encounter an error, but is also much more secure in comparison to Windows systems when it comes to privacy, security, virus, and spy-ware protection.

Apple is the best system for computers which are only to be used on a professional basis having some of the best art software, film software, writing software, and quicker internet experience.

What about other Apple products such as the Apple phones and music players?

Apple has always been ahead of almost all companies when it comes to advanced technology. Apple gains an advantage by always having the next best thing out before competing companies creating a craze for customers to buy from apple to get more complex products before other people can.

Apple Advertising.

Many viewers of television and other media which display Apple advertisements have claimed that Apple, “Just has a way of convincing me I need their product.”

Viewers have claimed that after watching creative Apple product advertisements even if they knew they would either never use it, or did not need it, they were still tempted to purchase the product simply because they liked the advertisements.

Apple use in local schools.

Many schools prefer to use Apple computers instead of windows due to its high security and simple adjustments to block students out of features which are not in class appropriate. When students attend places such as college they tend to lean more towards investing in apple computers so their work is compatible with being transferred and printed out on the schools computers and printers.

Please comment below why you LOVE Apple.

Here are the top 20 personal electronics that you must have!

1. Xbox Project Natal – This is hands down the best of the new gadgets coming out. Interactive game play without controllers. There is a motion sensor camera built in that reads body positioning, body type and can assign gender to your avatar. The camera can detect even subtle movements replicating the movement on screen.
***********************************************************************************
2. Ford’s MyKey – This is the bane of all teenagers! A parental safety control allows parents to set speed limits, audio limits, and sound an alert if the seatbelt is not engaged. Cool idea, glad my dad didn’t have one.
***********************************************************************************
3. 4G phones – These have data transfer speeds of 100 Mbps with 1G when static. Sprint, Comcast, Verizon, Clearwire, and Time Warner Cable are all releasing 4G phones, so the prices are going to be competitive. Good news for the consumer.
***********************************************************************************
4. Hydrogen powered phones –French researchers are slated to announce a hydrogen fuel source for mobile communications next year. While this may not be in production in 2010, it is newsworthy enough to be included in the cool gadgets list.
***********************************************************************************
5. Bond gadgets: These are not new ideas, but they are new applications.

Spy button camera –Good for surveillance (or stalking), this camera is available in the form of a button.

Spy Tie camera – Same as button cameras, but dressed up (Kind of snobby, really, they don’t like the buttons) as a tie tac.
***********************************************************************************
6. Apple Tablet – Netbook in slate form, the size will be somewhere between the iPhone and the Apple Mac Laptop making it easily portable.
***********************************************************************************
7. Microsoft Zune phone – features include OLED (organic light emitting diode), resolution 800×480 pixels, light sensor, GPS and compass.
***********************************************************************************
8. Playstation 3 (3D) – the new release from Playstation, this is a firmware software upgrade to your existing unit. 3-D glasses have to be worn.
***********************************************************************************
9. Canova dual touch screen laptop – As the name says, it features two screens with multi touch capabilities that respond to the lightest touch, the best features by far are the sketch pad, graph page, and multimedia package. Applications can utilize both screens for better viewing. It can also be programmed to respond to voice commands.
***********************************************************************************
10. Hydrogen fuel – From France: Hydrogen fuel to be used to as a backup power source for mobile communication devices. This is slated for production in mid 2010. Say good-bye to being tied to electrical sources of power!
***********************************************************************************
11. Nuclear Batteries – The US stays in the game – The University of Missouri is working on the development of nuclear batteries to provide longer life for batteries. The applications for these types of batteries is endless.
***********************************************************************************
12. Fuji Instax mini 7S Instant Color Photo camera – the rounded design is easy on the eyes and comfortable in the hand. Great for vacations, the kids can get an immediate print to share with new friends. The refills are expensive, but worth the cost.
***********************************************************************************
13. BioLogic FreeCharge – Dynamo attached to bike wheel can produce enough electricity to charge gadgets or power a small headlight for night riding.
***********************************************************************************
14. Radioisotope battery – The size of a penny, this battery provides more power than traditional batteries. (To the 6th power higher than normal batteries )
***********************************************************************************
15. Bluelounge Refresh – This is a charging station that can charge six different devices and can accommodate 3 at one time on the station. If you want to charge all six at the same time, three of them will have to sit outside of the station.
***********************************************************************************
16. EMS e-paper music scores with a foot pedal – The flexible screen unrolls to provide viewing surface and is fed the music through a bluetooth from a computer. This is VERY cool for musicians!
***********************************************************************************
17. Glo-pillow – gradually increases LED light output to simulate a sunrise. The pillow also features memory foam for comfort, a digital display.
***********************************************************************************
18. Motion activated headphones – built-in relational motion sensors turn on of off as the headphones are removed or inserted into the ear. These headphones will allow the user to answer an incoming call from a supported cell phone. When the headphones are removed form the ear the device will be shut off.
***********************************************************************************
19. Solio Solar Charger – With an eight hour charge from the sun (to bring the device to a 100% charge), this device can recharge your cell phone battery twice or power you mp3 player for fifteen hours.
***********************************************************************************
20. Cowan A2 – This is a multimedia player that is 4 inches wide with a bright screen. It is very portable and has full playback and recording capabilities.
***********************************************************************************
I realize that this isn’t really a tekkie devise, but it IS cool so I included it.
Toyota Prius – Toyota is introducing a solar panel on their Prius hybrid car. The solar panel is to power the air conditioning and should improve overall functioning of the car.

Microsoft seems be doing them all at once. Along with the imminent release of Windows 7, that is certain to get into a lot of new notebooks and PCs, they also want a share of the smartphone market. Especially since Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android are giving the headaches when it comes to mobile device users.
So it makes sense for the Redmond software giant to try and push the newest version of Windows Mobile on as many devices as they can. And manufacturers couldn’t be happier – LG is the last one to join the club. Their new model, called GM750 is the first out of a range of 13 Windows Mobile 6.5 devices that LG Plans to release by the end of 2010.
The phone does look very good, with a 3 inch touchscreen, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS navigation and a 5 megapixel camera. It has a 200 MB memory, expandable via microSD slot and it’s already on the market.

Even if they can get much more expensive than PC products sporting almost the same features, Macs seem to fascinate a lot of users. That’s why, whenever new Macs are on the market, everybody wants to check them out. Even if I think the thing Apple deserves the biggest praise is their marketing…
But let’s get back to the new things that Apple has decided to put into their computers. Mice and keyboards are now wireless, and CPUs are faster – 3.33Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2.66Ghz Core i5 (quad) or 2.8Ghz Core i7 (quad), while video is handled by an ATI solution, which is quite interesting, considering the fact that Apple preferred Nvidia chips in the past few years.
The HD craze got to Apple – the new 21.5” and 27” displays are capable of resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440, so you won’t have any problems watching “Public Enemies” as if you were there, right between the gunshots. We see an increase in terms of RAM, too – 4 GB is the now the smallest available.

OK, we all got used to getting tons of new features on our iPhones everytime Steve Jobs decides to grace us with a new firmware update. Well, we’re sorry to tell that it’s not the case this time. Still, the new update does bring some important stuff, so maybe you shouldn’t avoid installing it. Unless you have a jailbroken iPhone (seriously, don’t!), in which case you should wait for the jailbroken version.
But let’s see what the new update brings, shall we? As we said, it doesn’t come with any new features, but it does fix a few glitches. The first is the bug that caused the device not to wake up from sleep at times. Then, it repairs the issue that caused the iPhone to need a restart in order to regain access to network services. Last but not least, the iPhone won’t crash occasionally during video streaming. All of these were intermittent issues, but it’s good to see them fixed, as they could get quite annoying.
