Acer releases flagship mobile device
Acer seems to have decided to play a more important part in the smartphone market, considering its latest offering. The S200 neoTouch has everything a demanding smartphone user could want. It’s a touchscreen device (3,8″ resistive) and it runs the newest version of Windows Mobile, 6.5. The resolution of the touchscreen doesn’t fail to impress, at 800 x 480 pixels.
Data transfer is handled via HSDPA and HSUPA and, if you want to take high-quality pictures, the S200 has a 5 megapixel camera, featuring autofocus and flash.
Since HTC has launched its TouchFLO interface, you can’t have a Windows Mobile device without the manufacturer’s touch. Acer wanted to keep up, so the device uses Acer UI 3.0, that allows a better finger operation.
We saved the best for last. The neoTouch S200 has a whopping 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU (helped by 256 MB of RAM memory). So far, only the Toshiba TG01 could claim such power. No pricing information at the moment.
