Window Mobile 6.5, a Stopgap Until Mobile 7 Arrives

Windows is coming out with the second edition of Mobile 6.5. Windows Mobile is a compact operating system developed by Microsoft, for use in smartphones and other mobile devices.  The second edition introduces a number of screen display updates that are reportedly designed to make it more functional, especially with devices that utilize capacitive touchscreens.  The more notable of those changes is the new “Today” screen.  Though the classic version of the screen is still available, Windows Mobile 6.5 features an all-new improved version that is somewhat similar to Zune’s home screen.  This new Today screen provides the 6.5 a fresh new look.  According to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s mobile phone roadmap never included Windows Mobile 6.5.  It was developed to serve as a stopgap until Windows Mobile 7 is made available in 2010.
