The iPod tablet — Does it exist?
If you checked out iLounge today, you might have been tantalized by yet more rumors of an upcoming iPod tablet. The legendary oversized iPhone (estimates run about a 10.5-inch screen) has been the subject of technolust by Apple watchers. iLounge.com, however, is normally considered a reliable source in the Apple community, giving their story a bit more heft than just a random forum post. According to the piece, the tablet specs include a curved back, the standard iPhone OS and at least two variations. Like the iPhone and the iPod touch, one would have 3G capabilities, the other wouldn’t. Given the enormous popularity and the lower price point of the iPod touch, it’s not difficult to see the phone-less tablet becoming the go-to peripheral for gaming and casual users while the phone tablet appeals more to power and business users. obviously there’s been no official announcement, so we don;t know if this is real yet, but the source indicates an announcement may be on its way in January.
